About the Department

Electrical and electronics engineering is an exciting and dynamic field. Electrical engineers are demand of the day since they are responsible for generation, transmission and conversion of electrical power. Electrical and Electronics Engineering technology programme prepares students to work in engineering teams. Students are trained to design and trouble shoots circuits.
Department of EEE offers one UG programme and one PG programme M.E Applied Electronics. The department has qualified and experienced faculty in all the fields like electrical machines, electrical power systems, power electronics and drives, process control and instrumentation, applied electronics, high voltage engineering etc.,. The theoretical knowledge is further supplemented by well equipped laboratories.

Department is equipped with latest state of art laboratories for electrical machines, power electronics, power systems with software ETAP,PSCAD,MI power, control systems, integrated circuits, electric circuits, measurements and instrumentation lab, engineering practices lab and electronics design lab for PG applied electronics with excellent computing facilities. It also has latest audio – visual teaching aids. Internet facility is available for students.

Infrastructure

All types of DC Machines, single phase and three phase squirrel cage and slip ring induction motors, single-phase and three phase transformers, suitable starters and loading arrangements for machines, measuring instruments of all types needed for the laboratory experiments and calibration meters are used.

The Electrical Machines Laboratory is utilized by all branches of students except CSE and IT students for lab work and project work. All these facilities are used by the teachers for research and development work.

Thryistor converters, DC choper modules, power devices such as Thyristors, Power MOSFETs, IGBTs of various voltage and current ratings, Opto-Isolators, Pulse transformers and other related commutating components.

A Number of modules of AC-DC converters, voltage controllers – single phase as well as three phase, DC chopper units and inverters using Power MOSFETs and IGBTs, project works of UG and PG students are carried out here.

The Electronics Laboratory is a unit of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The role of this laboratory is to educate undergraduate and graduate students in the concepts and techniques of Electronics Systems and to carry out cutting-edge research in this area. Laboratory experiments in electronic circuits using semiconductor devices, including diodes, MOSFETs and BJTs. Hands-on-experimental experiences. Design of circuits and its analysis is carried out using Pspice, MATLAB, PSIM etc.

The laboratory facility includes Xilinx FPGA kits and ISE software that is being used for undergraduate and postgraduate laboratories and project work. The laboratory is equipped with ARM, PIC controller, AVR and microcontroller boards, digital storage oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters and IC testers. Research projects are carried out here.

This laboratory facilitates students to understand the basic parts of a circuit and how an electric current moves through it. Basic knowledge in circuits and its working is understood. Theoretical knowledge is verified using simulation tools like Pspice, MATLAB, PSIM.
